Gravity, a proposal

April 14-May 27, 2022

Sikkema Jenkins & Co.

Sikkema Jenkins & Co. is pleased to present Gravity, a proposal, a group exhibition featuring works by Barbara Ess, Dana Lok, Jameson Magrogan, Monique Mouton, Brandon Ndife, and Charlie Perez-Tlatenchi, organized by Cameron Martin. The exhibition will be on view in the back galleries April 14 through May 22, 2022.

As the structuring principle of the exhibition, gravity is understood as both the fundamental force attracting bodies and mass towards the center of the earth, and the palpable weight of importance, solemnity, and full understanding. The emerging and established artists featured in this show engage with ideas of gravity through a variety of readings and representations. Presented together, the exhibition opens new channels of correspondence, exploring interactions between works and juxtaposing artists at different stages in the trajectories of their practices.

Page (NYC) at Petzel

September 8 – October 30, 2021

35 E 67th Street

Petzel is pleased to present PAGE (NYC), a collaboration with the Tribeca-based gallery. The exhibition debuts new works by Magnus Andersen, Ravi Jackson, Frieda Toranzo Jaeger, Dani Leder, Dana Lok, Leigh Ruple, Lauren Satlowski, Agnes Scherer, and Katja Seib. On view at Petzel’s Upper East side location, this presentation marks the first time Petzel has invited a New York gallery to organize an exhibition in one of its spaces.

Curated by Lucas Page, owner of PAGE (NYC), the show brings together a fresh mix of emerging voices from the international scene. Systematic approaches find poetic harmonies in the depiction of refined structures and figurative subject matter. Experiments in pictorial processes devise an extrasensory world with a range of surprising results and unexpected combinations. This group has grit and dynamism, making it happen here and now.

Andrew Kreps Gallery is pleased to announce Fifteen Painters on view at 22 Cortlandt Alley from April 2 - May 8.

Occupying both floors of the gallery, the exhibition brings together fifteen artists born after 1980, who each take distinct and diverse approaches to the medium of painting. From those that use painting for its immediacy to those who utilize it for project-based investigations, the exhibition does not aim to identify a specific theme or trend. Instead, it demonstrates the continued mutability of painting as a practice, and its malleable nature that extends beyond its physical application.

In the Detail

October 17 - November 20, 2020

⚫️⚪️ IN THE DETAIL brings together work by eleven artists with a keen awareness of the minute, mined through attention to technical and conceptual precision. Many of the works were made in the past few months of quarantine-induced isolation, while others are the result of the artists' inherently reclusive or labor-intensive practices. The exacting nature of the works, whether through sensory or information overload, convey a profound sense of anxiety and meditation. ⚫️⚪️ @appointmentonly_

Walk the Walk 2020 Benefit

As the 2020 Presidential election looms on the horizon, each day seems to bring another news story of preventable tragedy. Further, the right to vote is under significant threat, as we continue to receive reports of rampant voter suppression and disenfranchisement, especially within Black and Latinx communities. It is clear that democracy and civil rights need to be fought for, both hard and strategically.

As the deadlines for voter registration are coming up quickly (Florida’s is October 5th), artists Sarah Faux and Martha Tuttle have organized a benefit sale of works on paper for WtW, in collaboration with Drawer. The benefit includes works on paper by close to fifty artists, including Katherine Bradford, Pat Steir, Byron Kim, Mark Thomas Gibson, Felipe Baeza, Erin M. Riley, Doron Langberg, Christopher K. Ho, and Ivy Haldeman, and will be online from September 21 through September 29.

Interview with Art of Choice

“Ladies Choice” is an ongoing series highlighting female artists working in New York City and beyond. This series honors the power and ingenuity of women in the arts. Women have traditionally received much less exposure and recognition in the art industry. In their support of one another, these women stand as a testament to furthering the careers of female artists.

EXHIBITION DATES: NOVEMBER 2 - DECEMBER 21, 2017
OPENING RECEPTION:
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2017, 6 - 9PM

Everything You’ve Ever Wanted, a group exhibition featuring works by more than 60 artists.
